AdventHealth OCALA VOLUNTEER AND SENIOR SERVICES
Volunteering at AdventHealth Ocala is a great way to meet people, make new friends, contribute to those needing a little TLC and experiencing the joy of helping others. The Volunteer & Senior Service staff and volunteers are committed to making our community healthier by partnering with others to design value added programs and services which improve the life and wellbeing of our patients. Extending the healing ministry of Christ is an awesome focal point for our Volunteer & Senior Services programs. Focusing on the whole care experience, allows us to work together to enhance the patient experience, inside and outside our hospital.
The Volunteer powered Auxiliary, Inc. is a separate 501-C-3, non-profit service organization workings closely with the Volunteer & Senior Services department. The Auxiliary is the business side of the volunteer program, operating businesses which support the mission of improving community health. Currently, the Auxiliary is sponsoring the Healthy Home program from the proceeds of the hospital gift shop and uniform store. Help us, help others by shopping in our hospital gift shop and ordering a uniform or logo item from the uniform store.
Healthy Home , extending compassionate care into the home
The Healthy Home program volunteers provide short-term, non-medical care to patients who need a little extra comfort care once discharging to their own homes after a hospital stay. Focusing on our elderly patient, especially those who live alone or have limited social support, has been an essential part of this valuable program. All services provided are free of charge to our patients. To truly heal at home, nutritious food and a safe home is essential. Healthy Home services include fresh and frozen meals, medical transportation to doctor visits, safe home modifications to prevent falls, 60 day free emergency response unit and well check telephone calls. During the past 3 years, the Healthy Home program has served over 1,400 patients, allowing most to recover safely at home without a readmission to the hospital.
